Website Accessibility Policy
Purpose
Cholmondeley and Chorley Parish Council is committed to ensuring that its website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities.
The Council will seek to comply with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard where reasonably practicable.
Objectives
The Council will:
- Maintain an Accessibility Statement on its website.
- Review accessibility annually.
- Ensure new content is published in an accessible format wherever possible.
- Avoid publishing scanned PDF documents unless necessary.
- Provide information in alternative formats on request.
- Consider accessibility when procuring website services.
Documents
Where possible, documents will:
- be published in accessible PDF format;
- use clear headings and plain English;
- contain searchable text;
- avoid unnecessary images of text.
Requests for Information
Members of the public may request information in an alternative format by contacting the Parish Clerk.
The Council will consider all requests and provide assistance where reasonably practicable.
Review
This policy shall be reviewed annually.
