Promoting Well-being in Cholmondeley and Chorley Parish

At Cholmondeley and Chorley Parish Council, we are committed to fostering a healthy, resilient, and thriving community. We recognise the importance of well-being—both physical and mental—and aim to provide free resources and guidance to support all residents, including our local farming community.

Supporting Mental Well-being in the Farming Community

Farming is a demanding profession, and we understand the unique pressures that come with it. To ensure that our farmers and agricultural professionals receive the support they need, we are pleased to share the following free mental well-being resources and courses tailored specifically for the farming community in the UK.

1. The Calmer Farmer Programme

  • Description: A free 10-week online course launching in February 2025, offering practical tools to reduce stress and enhance well-being.
  • Features:
    • Weekly audio lessons (10–30 minutes)
    • Daily guided practices (10–20 minutes)
    • Reflective prompts
    • Access to a live online support community

2. Rural+ Wellbeing Training

  • Description: Developed by the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (NFYFC) in collaboration with The Farming Community Network (FCN) and The DPJ Foundation.
  • Target Audience: Young farmers and agricultural professionals aged 10–26.
  • Features:
    • Sessions on mental health awareness
    • Strategies for managing personal well-being
    • Guidance on seeking and providing support

3. RABI Mental Health Training

  • Description: The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) offers mental health training designed for the farming community.
  • Features:
    • Half-day, one-day, and two-day courses available
    • Understanding common mental health conditions
    • Recognising signs and symptoms
    • Supporting others to access help
    • Includes a unique aftercare service

4. Greenway Training’s Mental Health Awareness for the Farming Community

  • Description: A concise 3 to 3.5-hour course tailored specifically for farmers.
  • Features:
    • Facilitators with experience in farming culture
    • Evidence-informed principles and strategies

6. The Farming Community Network (FCN) Training and Development

  • Description: Helps young farmers and agricultural professionals understand stress and anxiety, manage personal mental well-being, and support others.

    • Delivered to Young Farmers’ Clubs and agricultural colleges
    • Available both in-person and online
